Reliable Domestic Violence Lawyers
Protecting Your Family Against Abuse
Domestic Violence occurs when one person intentionally causes bodily injury or attempts to cause bodily injury, places a person in fear of bodily injury or places a member of a person’s family in fear of bodily injury or commits continued harassment or other acts as defined by North Carolina General Statutes. North Carolina General Statute 50B-1 (b) defines Domestic Violence as those actions occurring between two people in a “personal relationship.” This includes current or former spouses, persons who live or have lived together, familial relationships (ex: parent/child), persons having a child in common, current or former household members, and persons in a dating relationship or former dating relationship. Protective Orders are granted for those persons that have experienced domestic violence. Protective Orders can last up to one year and require a hearing before a District Court judge. Our Attorneys assist clients in domestic violence relationships in obtaining restraining orders for their protection.
